Please tell us a little about yourself.

Sure. I have my Masters in Business Administration from India, where I worked for some time, and after I got married, I came to the USA. That was 10 years ago. We are a family of four – me, my husband and two lovely kids. Over the last few years, I explored my love for writing a little more as I stepped into blogging. I am the founder, editor, and writer at, the place where one can find various articles on parenting topics, recipes, crafts/DIY, audio stories for kids, and much more. Apart from my own website, I have written articles for the prestigious Times of India as their NRI contributor and Citizen Journalist, and few other websites like World of Moms, India Moms Connect, Parentous, Bonobology, and Hindigym.

I also got featured on and Best of Guru.

What’s your favorite thing about being a parent?

I can go on and on. I love all about being a parent. But most importantly, it is a privilege and honor to bring a new life into this world. It is a wonderful feeling that cannot be expressed into words. Everything that follows is a beautiful journey where every day is learning experience. It has many turns–sometimes bumps too– but that makes us even stronger.

Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?

I always had an inclination towards writing, but I never took it seriously. It was more of a pastime for me but after I took the mommy role, I started to think more about parenting topics as that was something I was experiencing every day. And at that time, my first article with Austin South Asian Newsletter got published: “Mother tongue- A blessing for Indian kids.”  Obviously, it was a morale boost for me. Later, I wrote couple of articles for this newsletter and the response was quite good. I decided to take my hobby to the next level by starting my own website. And that’s how Mothers Gurukul came into existence. Gurukul is a Sanskrit word which means school on India. Today, I can say that my hobby has changed into a passion and I am enjoying every bit of it.

What do I enjoy about blogging? – I like writing in general. Blogging gives me a freedom to present my thoughts and share it with other bloggers, parents. No doubt, there are certain rules that every blogger has to follow but it is always exciting when the post goes live (whether it is for my own website or for another) and seeing the reader’s response. When readers say my posts give them a feeling of talking to another mom just like them, it’s a certificate in itself. The blogging world is so vast that there is always something to explore. It has been a wonderful journey so far.

Where do you find most of your inspiration?

I would say “kids” are my biggest source of inspiration. Parenting revolves around kids. When I am talking to my daughter and she wants my opinion, that gives me a new topic to write on..:) Also, when I am talking to my mommy friends, I keep an eye on what their concerns are. And if I think I can write about it, I start to write it down. For example, my recent post “Are you a perfect parent?” – this topic clicked while having a conversation with one of my friends.

Can you explain a recent project you’ve been working on?

As I said, “Are you a perfect parent?” was my recent post. Apart from that, How couple dynamics have changed across generations for the better was my other recent project. I wrote this piece for Bonobology. With this post, I explored a different genre and style. And I am looking forward to publishing a few more posts with them.

Also, below is a recent project I completed called “Candle Art with Tissue Paper.”
