At Floor Coverings International North Jersey, we love to bring you creative insight and perspectives from some of the Internet’s most successful design bloggers. Our latest interview features New Jersey-based interior designer and blogger Amanda of AMA Designs. You can follow Amanda on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram.
What’s one of your favorite design pieces you have in your own home?
My favorite design item that I currently own is my round mirror with a mirrored bevel frame. I strategically placed my mirror across from a window so it bounces so much more light in my room. The additional light source is very beneficial since my bedroom is on the smaller side.
What are your favorite design trends of 2016?
The latest design trends that I am loving right now are blush pinks and warm metals. I have always a “gold” jewelry type of gal, so I am huge fan of incorporating brass details into any space.
Do you follow any other blogs for inspiration? If so, which ones?
I am not much of a “blog” follower but I am very active on Instagram for inspiration. Instagram is a quick and easy way for me to visually digest information. I follow numerous designers and vendors to stay current with the latest introductions at Market. If I do have the chance to read, I love the blog written by Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, My Domaine, and Apartment Therapy.
Can you tell us about a recent project you’ve been working on?
As for recent projects, I recently completed the Kitchen design for a local volunteer firehouse. My boyfriend is a member of the firehouse and I have visited the firehouse several times. They host an annual pancake breakfast for the community once a year. After visiting, I realized that their previous kitchen was not doing the job. With melted Formica countertops and cabinets falling off the hinges, it was time for an update! I wanted to give back to these incredible people who sacrifice so much of their time to make the community safe, and so, I volunteered my services to give them a space that they truly deserved.
Another project that I have been working on for the past 6 months is the launch of my online Interior Design course. I will be sharing my knowledge and expertise, teaching homeowners how to decorate their room from start to finish. My course will be launching this fall.
